December 9 - UK based heavy haulier Collett Transport has invested in a new six-axle Nooteboom Manoovr semi low loader.

HLPFI reported in October 2015 that Nooteboom had launched its new Manoovr trailer.

The Manoovr low loader features an adjustable platform height from 920 mm to 780 mm, as well as unique suspension and a 70 degree steering angle. The pendulum axles allow an axle load of 12 tonnes, which Collett says is the highest permitted axle load in Europe.

With a 100-tonne capacity and a bed that can be extended from 12 m to 30.35 m, Collett says that its latest addition provides the company with an adaptable solution for heavy transport projects in an increasingly demanding industry.

Meanwhile, Collett also completed the delivery of 18 loads, with a combined total weight of 600 tonnes, for the development of the Sinfin waste treatment plant in Derby.

Collett was called upon by freight forwarding company Expeditors to handle the transport. The consignment was shipped from the manufacturer in Portugal to the UK Port of Goole on board the vessel Fehn Courage.

In Goole, Collett oversaw all marine agency and stevedoring services, as well as the discharge of the 18 units using a 500-tonne capacity crane. Each piece was then lifted on to trailers for transport to Collett's depot in Goole, where the cargo was stored before its delivery to the site.

Once the plant was ready to receive the equipment, Collett began the transport of all 18 pieces of cargo to the Sinfin site. The heaviest loads - weighing in at 80 tonnes each - required some careful route navigation due to tight residential streets and a number of bridges, explained the company.
