March 14 - Clipper Steel Services has added a second ship into the shuttle service that it launched between the Port of Mobile, USA and Tampico, Mexico in 2014.
Clipper Marlene has now joined Clipper Althea on the Clipper Group's Steel Shuttle Express, which has a two-day transit, sails every ten days and has seen increasing cargo volumes since its launch.
The additional ship is a 17,500 dwt multipurpose carrier with three 60-tonne cranes that, in addition to steel, can offer broader services to the parcel sector and cargo requiring heavy lifting.
HLPFI readers will recall that the Clipper Group's multipurpose division, Clipper Projects, merged with Thorco Shipping in 2013 and now trades under the Thorco Shipping brand name.
Meanwhile, Clipper Group has also opened an office in Hong Kong to help grow its activities in the Pacific and focus on bulk and breakbulk in East Asia.
Clipper Group Hong Kong is headed by Charlie Du Cane, previously with Gearbulk.
