July 11 - CargoLogicAir (CLA) has signed a memorandum of understanding to become the air cargo partner for the Bloodhound Project, which is attempting to set a new world land speed record in South Africa in 2017.
The agreement will see CLA fly the project's supersonic car, Bloodhound SSC, from its UK base to and from South Africa, where its world record attempts will take place on the Hakskeenpan dried lake bed in the Northern Cape.
The flights to Upington Airport will also carry support equipment, and CLA will provide a resupply and returns service for the transportation of car parts and equipment.
The Bloodhound Project team hopes to set a new world land speed record of 800 mph (1,287 kph) next year, before returning to South Africa in 2018 to try for the 1,000 mph (1,609 kph) target.
