March 9 - Four gas turbines and generators are being loaded on the heavy lift ship Wladyslaw Orkan, which is owned by Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company (Chipolbrok), at the Broekman Breakbulk Terminal in Rotterdam.
The consignment, which weighs a total of 1,400 tonnes, is being transported to the terminal by barge before being loaded directly onto the ship.
The turbines and generators are destined for delivery to project development company Umm al Houl - a consortium of the Qatar Foundation, Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Water and Electricity Company, Mitsubishi Coportation and Tokyo Electric Power Company - which is building a 2.5 GW combined-cycle power generating facility in Qatar with an integrated seawater desalination facility.
The first phase of the project is expected to become operational in 2017, and the entire site is scheduled for completion mid-2018.
