Chipolbrok has delivered six hybrid rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes to South Carolina Port Authority’s (SCPA) Hugh H. Leatherman Terminal in North Charleston, USA.
The RTG cranes arrived at the container terminal onboard Chipolbrok’s Nowowiejski vessel.
The cranes were fabricated by Shanghai-based manufacturer ZPMC and will join the 19 RTG cranes already on the site in addition to the five new ship-to-shore cranes, which stand on the 1,400 ft (426.7 m) berth. The RTG cranes will move and stack cargo boxes around the 47-acre (19-ha) container yard.
SCPA said the cranes are the final pieces of cargo handling equipment to arrive at the terminal, which is scheduled to open at the end of March 2021.
