April 15 - Cargolux International Airlines has introduced Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, to its network.
The new operation will commence on April 24, 2013 and will serve the African city on a weekly basis.
The new service has been launched in response to growing demand from France, Asia and the Americas. Exports from Burkina Faso consist mainly of perishable goods such as fresh beans and mangoes.
On the import side, supplies for Burkina Faso's growing mining industry are in demand. The country relies on air freight for such commodities because of its landlocked position in West Africa.
Only last week, HLPFI reported that Cargolux added Tripoli, Libya to its growing freighter network (http://tinyurl.com/cm38lrz).
