April 7 - The UAE initiative 'Care by Air' has made its debut at this year's Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition 2010 (DIHAD).
The event, which was held between 4 - 6 April 2010 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, proved an ideal venue to raise the profile of this UAE generated humanitarian initiative.
Care by Air was launched at the Dubai Air Show in November 2009 and currently onboard are Maximus Air Cargo, Etihad Airways and Abu Dhabi Airports Company. Organisations such as the UAE Red Crescent and the World Food Programme are also very supportive of the initiative.
The business model behind this initiative is that airports, cargo companies and fuel suppliers operate at cost in connection with Care by Air activities.
The initiative is now up and running with a web site (www.carebyair.org ) and full commitment from its partners.
Fathi Buhazza, president and CEO of Maximus Air Cargo and founder of Care by Air said: "The UAE is a nation well known for its humanitarian efforts and Care by Air is something that business here can really be proud of. We are looking forward to raising interest and generating support for this initiative. It is a sustainable business model which has the formidable power to help millions in need."
