August 13 - Denmark headquartered marine logistics services provider Blue Water Shipping (BWS) has transported the last components from the Port of Esbjerg to the German built Riffgat Offshore Wind Farm in the North Sea.
The wind turbines were moved on the BWS vessel Bold Tern and are currently being erected by Norwegian offshore installation concern, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier.
"We have loaded Bold Tern four times with a total of 30 turbines including nacelles, tower sections and rotor blades," said Klaus Odby Jensen of BWS. "In addition to the stevedore assignments, we have also handled crew changes, various purchases for the ship and ensured that spare parts have been delivered."
Petter Faye Søyland, project manager, Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, commented: "The cooperation with Blue Water has been excellent and we are very pleased with the quality and service we have been provided with."
The foundations of the Riffgat Offshore Wind Farm were installed in 2012. When the final turbine has been installed the farm will supply electricity to around 120,000 homes.
