Netherlands-headquartered Broekman Logistics has taken over the activities and assets of J.C. Meijers.
Effective November 1, J.C. Meijers’ owner Erik Meijers transferred the terminal’s activities to JCMB, which is a part of Broekman Logistics.
“This acquisition is an important strategic investment for Broekman Logistics, as JCMB is located adjacent to the Broekman Project Services terminal,” said Rob van Dijk, director of operations at JCMB.
Broekman Logistics said the deal was the next step in Rotterdam’s plan to strengthen the breakbulk sector, also known as the Breakbulk Carousel. Twan Romeijn, business manager breakbulk and offshore industry at the Port of Rotterdam, said: “This next step in the Breakbulk Carousel, together with all involved parties, shows that the port of Rotterdam is strongly committed to the development and modernisation of the breakbulk sector.”
The 19,000 sq m terminal has a quay measuring 270 m in length, indoor storage of 3,000 sq m, as well as a lifting capacity of up to 120 tonnes. It also has a rail connection for multimodal transport solutions. The financial details of the acquisition were not revealed.
