The company’s primary operations are on operating container terminals and are arranged into three segments, mainly dealing with the loading and unloading, transport and handling of cargo both on vessels and at the dock. It manages a number of facilities, including the Keelung container terminal, Taichung port container terminal and Taichung Pier 31 terminal.
A China Container Terminal Corporation’s (CCTC) STS crane has collapsed after being hit by another crane coming into port.
The incident took place when the ship was berthed at Keelung port West Pier 20 on October 14. The Chinese-flagged heavy load carrier, Yuzhou Qi Hang, was carrying the new STS crane.
CCTC confirmed that it also owned the older crane stationed ashore. At the time of the incident, it was shut down and waiting for the new machine to be berthed and landed.
According to the Taiwan-based firm, there are no casualties. All the machines and cargo affected by this case were also fully insured and are currently covered by insurance and notarisation.
