February 16 - Over 800 project cargo and traditional breakbulk cargo logisticians are expected to take part in the Breakbulk Africa Congress 2015, which started today at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Topics for discussion at the Congress, which is now in its fourth year, include insights from leading industry experts speaking about Sub-Saharan Africa's Potentials, Achievers and Champions; African Oil and Gas - An Evolving Market; The African Tangle - Trade Agreements Update; Fleet Update and Maritime Round Table; Africa's Project Outlook; Risk and Reward, African Style; and a Case Study on Cahora Bassa Hydro-Electricity Power Plant, Mozambique and A New Era in Moving Abnormal Loads in Southern Africa.
Today and tomorrow, the Heavy Lift MasterClass taught by trainer, Richard Krabbendam, will cover Best Practices in Handling Heavy Lifts Safely. The Abnormal Load Summit held on February 18 will address South Africa's abnormal loads sector, which is likely to strongly affected by new transport corridors, regulations, upgrades and other pending changes to the heavy haul transport environment. Leading experts will discuss issues including current and future regulatory challenges; pending upgrades and improvements; the need for additional and higher capacity equipment and challenges to be resolved to ensure healthy sector growth.
