December 9 - BNSF Logistics has transported a 536-tonne cold box from Genoa in Italy to Ashtabula, Ohio.
BNSF chartered the vessel Palmerton from Combi-Lift to transport the cold box, which had the dimensions 74 m x 7.55 m x 5.3 m, from Italy to the port of Lake Erie just in time, before the closing of the lakes for the winter season.
The cold box was discharged from the vessel, using the ship's two 450-tonne capacity cranes, and loaded onto a 4 x 6 axle Goldhofer trailer, before being transported 5 km by road from the port to the final jobsite.
BNSF Logistics is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) for the USA.
