April 19 - Blue Water Shipping is providing port handling, stevedoring and agency services in Lindo and Aalborg for 41 jackets and a number of piles destined for the 350 MW Wikinger offshore wind farm in the German sector of the Baltic Sea.
The Wikinger farm will comprise 70 turbines with four-legged jackets fastened to the seabed with four piles. 41 of the jackets are being produced in Lindo, while the piles will be manufactured in Aalborg. The jackets and piles will then be transported to Sassnitz-Mukran in Germany. The other 29 jackets are being produced in Spain.
"At Lindo, we will be handling the foundations while Aalborg handles the piles which are produced by Bladt Industries," explained Kim Thygesen of Blue Water Lindo.
"Both the piles and foundations are transported by barge and we will perform all the preparation of jackets, sea-fastening operations and handling of the barges. Agency for both barges and tugs are also our responsibility."
The 70 turbines are being installed by Offshore Windforce - a joint venture between Boskalis and Volker Wessels.
Blue Water Lindo handles the shipment of Bladt foundations for the Baltic II wind farm.
