February 8 - Blue Water Shipping has completed the transport of 13 bridge sections for the Landgangen project in Esbjerg, Denmark.
The urban development project will create better links between the city centre and the port by erecting a bicycle bridge and walkway, says Blue Water Shipping.
The transport was carried out for Valmont SM, a steel contractor and manufacturer of the bridge sections, the largest of which measured 23 m x 6.5 m x 1.5 m.
In a separate project, Blue Water Shipping has transported a massive lower hull and other heavy components that will form part of a semi-submersible drilling rig, from Asia to South America.
The 11,000-tonne lower hull measured 108 m x 73 m x 25 m and the supporting components, which included pontoons, the living quarters, upper derrick and lower derrick, had a combined weight of 7,537 tonnes.
According to Blue Water Shipping, its involvement in the project included engineering for the sea fastening and load spreading design, as well as finding the right vessel for each shipment.
