May 12 - Blue Water Shipping has been awarded a major contract by Tengizchevroil (TCO) for an oil project in Kazakhstan.
As part of the USD350 million contract, a consortium led by Blue Water Shipping and including Topaz Energy and Marine, will build and operate 15 specially designed module carrying vessels (MCV) for the TCO project.
Blue Water Shipping will be responsible for project management of the 15 bespoke ships, which will be built by Vard Shipyard Group at its yards in Romania and Vietnam. The vessels will be operated by Topaz Energy and Marine.
Once complete, the ships will transport modules and other cargoes, weighing up to 1,800 tonnes, through the Russian river system to the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan.
TCO is a joint venture company, comprising Chevron, KazMunaiGas, ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures and LukArco.
