August 11 - Earlier this month, BLRT Grupp's 11,000-ton (9,979-tonne) floating dock was loaded on board the semi-submersible heavy lift vessel Dockwise Vanguard at the Adriatic Shipyard Bijela in Montenegro, for onward transportation to Klaipeda, Lithuani
The floating dock will be transported to BLRT Grupp's Western Shipyard in Klaipeda, where it will be installed.
Measuring 235 m long and 53 m wide, the loading operation of the dock lasted approximately 11 hours. It will now begin the 3,825 mile (6,155.7 km) journey on board Dockwise Vanguard, which has a deadweight of 110,000 tons (99,790 tonnes.
"The dock will be the biggest dock in the Baltic countries and will open up new opportunities for ship owners and shipyards to carry out repair and modernisation projects on Panamax-type ships," said Arnoldas Šileika, Western Shipyard's director general.
BLRT Grupp acquired the dock in June 2016, and it is expected to be delivered to the Western Shipyard at the end of August.
