March 09 - Under the name, Beluga Projects (Norway) AS, German heavy lift shipping line, Beluga Shipping GmbH has opened its first Nordic branch office in Stavanger.
Stavangar is Norway's fourth largest city and the logistics centre of the Norwegian oil and gas industry.
Beluga Projects (Norway) was founded late last year and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Beluga Shipping.
The branch will be managed by Jan Fredrik Hammer and Morten Myhrvold will function as chartering manager at the branch.
The project and heavy lift transport market from Norway has already given Beluga Shipping some important activities over the recent months and prompted this direct involvement, says the line.
Many clients are based primarily on the west coast of Norway.
The extensive mineral oil and natural gas fields on the Norwegian continental shelf have catapulted the kingdom to becoming one of the most important oil producers and one of the largest exporters of gas and oil worldwide.
Furthermore, Norway is playing a major role in the sustainable energy sector, being particularly ambitious in terms of offshore wind energy.
