The port of Bellingham in the USA has taken delivery of a Liebherr LHM 420 mobile harbour crane.

Capable of lifting 120 tonnes, the Liebherr machine arrived at the port on July 15.

Chris Clark, the port’s marine terminals business development manager, said: “Thanks to the port of Bellingham commissioners for their foresight in approving the purchase, the federal Maritime Administration (MARAD) for making it available, the WA State Office of Enterprise Services for facilitating the transaction, PCMC & Curtin Marine for the haul, the ports of West Sacramento and Stockton for their great assist and ILWU Local 7 for their expertise in unloading.”

Once up and running the port of Bellingham plans to deploy the second-hand unit for a variety of uses, including the loading and unloading of barges on the anticipated America’s Marine Highway programme’s service from Bellingham to San Diego.
