June 19 - BBC Chartering is using its position as carrier of choice for Airbus shipments from Germany to the aircraft manufacturer's new production facility in Mobile, to promote a regular fortnightly service on the transatlantic.
As reported previously Airbus established its US manufacturing facility in Mobile to assemble and deliver A319, A320 and A321 aircraft, in order to meet the growing needs of its customers in the USA and elsewhere.
The components for the first aircraft, which is an A321ceo (current engine option), were loaded onboard BBC Fuji in the port of Hamburg for shipment to the USA, in a transport project being coordinated by DHL Industrial Projects, which expects to transport a total of 80,000 tonnes of freight for the assembly of aircraft in the USA.
This requires a constant supply of large components which are scheduled to arrive every fortnight on a vessel operated by BBC Chartering.
"We are very proud that we could qualify to become the carrier of choice for this strategic project", stated Svend Andersen, ceo of BBC Chartering.
"This new service operates on a part cargo basis and also represents an opportunity for other project, breakbulk or general cargo customers and their European exports to the US Gulf or on to other US East Coast destinations."
