May 17 - Base S.P.A. (Italy) has coordinated three project shipments from around the world to Pointe Noire, the Republic of Congo for the Mafumeira Sul offshore oil field development.
The USD5.6 billion Mafumeira Sul project is the second-stage development of the Mafumeira oil field, located 24 km offshore Cabinda Province.
Base S.p.A. - a Project Cargo Network (PCN) member representing Italy - moved three separate shipments to the Republic of Congo gateway in support of the development. Firstly, 1,850 m of pipe weighing 205 tonnes was shipped from Antwerp, Belgium.
A second shipment of pipes measuring 178 m in length and weighing 55 tonnes was delivered from Dubai.
A final 55 tonne consignment was also moved from Houston, USA to Pointe Noire.
Mafumeira Sul is expected to reach oil in 2015. When operational it will build towards a peak daily production of 110,000 barrels of crude oil and 10,000 barrels of liquefied petroleum gas.
