May 22 - ATS International Services has transported two 85-tonne turbine generators, along with associated accessories, from the manufacturer's facility in Southern California to Deadhorse in Alaska for TDX North Slope Generating Inc.
Located north of the Arctic Circle, Deadhorse serves the Prudhoe Bay oil service industry and the new turbines will be instrumental in ensuring reliable, cost-effective and increased power capacity throughout the region, said ATS.
ATS explained that planning for this project had been underway for nearly a year, and entailed precarriage and storage of the components, along with close cooperation with the Departments of Transportation in California, Oregon, Washington and Alaska to coincide with permitting regulations.
