June 17 - American Roll-on, Roll-off Carrier (ARC) is adding a ship to its transatlantic service to help the company maintain service frequency after a recent fire on board one of its other ships, Courage.
By adding Independence II, ARC says it will be able to continue a five-ship, U.S. flag, transatlantic service, offering a ten-day frequency.
The addition of the ship "will mitigate any service impacts while Courage is assessed for possible repairs," ARC said. The Courage was damaged after a fire in its cargo hold on June 2, while the ship was in transit from Bremerhaven to Southampton, as reported by HLPFI on June 5.
