Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers landed the contract from Saudi Aramco to transport and install the Marjan PK1 offshore platform.
The carrier will mobilise two dynamic positioning semi-submersible heavy transport vessels for the project, including a 65,000 dwt unit built specifically for the work.
The two ships are set to install six offshore platforms, the heaviest weighing 24,000 tonnes, which are being produced in China, Indonesia and the UAE before being installed at Saudi Arabia’s Marjan oil field in 2024.
