June 3 - Netherlands headquartered Amarcon, a member of the ABB Group, has received an order for eleven Octopus-Onboard installations for heavy lift vessels owned by Cosco Heavy Transport and BigLift Shipping.

The Octopus-Onboard system is designed to provide motion monitoring, vessel response prediction, heavy weather decision support, and weather window evaluation.

Amarcon secured the Cosco Heavy Transport deal after it leased the Octopus-Onboard system on several previous occasions. Cosco Heavy Transport operates a versatile fleet of vessels in the semi-submersible and project cargo transportation markets.

Netherlands based BigLift Shipping - which runs a fleet of 13 specialised heavy lift vessels - placed an order for six Octopus-Onboard systems with similar functionality. BigLift already uses the system on four of its vessels.

"For Amarcon it means a great deal that these clients show their ongoing faith in our technology. These new orders show that Octopus-Onboard is of significant importance for efficient and safe executions of heavy lift operations at sea," commented Leon Adegeest, general manager of Amarcon.
