February -27- Executive director, Ken O'Hollaren reported 2008 as a record setting year for the Port of Longview.

In 2008, the ports operating revenue reached its best ever at USD23,486,930, 26 0gher than in 2008, with net operating revenue (before depreciation) rising more than 100% to USD2,854,692.

Officials attribute much of the revenue increase to the ongoing development of wind energy cargoes through the port.

In 2008, the port took delivery of a Liebherr LHM500S Mobile Harbour Crane to support the growing wind energy cargo handling operations, as well as attract additional heavy lift cargoes.

The port of Longview claims to be the first full-service operating port with strategic transportation connections on the deep-draft Columbia River shipping channel in southwest Washington State. As well as project and heavy-lift cargoes, the port specialises in handling all types of bulk cargoes and breakbulk commodities such as steel, lumber, logs, pulp and paper.
