September 9 - Dammam-based Almajdouie Heavylift Transport & Engineering (MHL) has succeeded in securing six tranches of forwarding and shipping support for SATROP, SAUDI ARAMCO TOTAL Refining & Petrochemical Company from a number of highly-regarded Korean
The business follows the creation of SATROP, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Total, and its decision to build a world-class refinery with a refining capacity of 400,000 barrels per day producing diesel, jet fuel and gasoline in addition to petrochemicals such as paraxylene, aromatic benzene and propylene
Almajdouie Heavylift Transport & Engineering (MHL) will handle onshore activities and project management such as customs clearance and inland transportation of all types of project cargo which will consist of 850,000 tonnes of cargo to be transported from a number of ports on behalf of a number of vendors. The heaviest items are reactor units weighing approximately 1,250 tonnes.
The reactors will be transported from BilFal, Jubail to the refinery tank farm at the Petro Steel project site using SPMTs. Units with a similar size and weight will also be moved from Jubail Industrial seaport to conversion package of TECHNIPin association with Fagioli S.p.A. There will be many more heavy and oversize units which will be transported from Dammam and Jubail commercial and industrial seaports from the beginning of 2011.
