June 9 - Allison Shipping International has transported 13 helicopters from Mesa in Arizona to Erbil, Iraq onboard a B747 for the Kurdistan Regional Government.
Allison explained that the helicopters were worth USD36 million and required great care during the handling process and significant insurance cover.
Although the shipper had claimed it would be impossible to fit all 13 helicopters into one B747 freighter, Allison was determined to overcome this challenge in order to save costs for the customer and deliver the units more quickly.
Allison oversaw transport of the units from the shipper's storage facility in Phoenix to the airfield as well as their subsequent loading.
The helicopters will be used by the Kurdistan Regional Government to support medical evacuation and police operations.
