September 26 - ALE has completed the transportation and load-out of a lower turret for the Kaombo South floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) project.
The turret consisted of two pieces, the upper weighing 1,400 tonnes and the lower weighing 1,950 tonnes.
ALE transported the two pieces from the fabrication location to the quayside using 88 axle lines of self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT). Each section was loaded-out onto a vessel supplied by the client; ALE then offloaded the giant turret sections onto the vessel.
The Kaombo field development project is located in block 32, offshore Angola. Two converted FPSO units, owned by Total, will each have an oil treating capacity of 115,000 barrels per day (bpd).
