November 22 - ALE has completed the heavy lifting operations for the Earls Court redevelopment project in London, UK.

ALE was contracted by Keltbray to lift 61 portal beams, ranging in weight from 100 tonnes to 1,500 tonnes, out from over the London underground lines. ALE utilised its 4,300-tonne capacity AL.SK190 crane, as HLPFI reported here

Between March and October, ALE lifted a total of 21,016 tonnes, including the heaviest beam that weighed 1,500 tonnes. According to ALE this was the largest single lift undertaken in UK history by a land-based crane.

The AL.SK190 was positioned in one single location, which ALE says meant that less site space was taken up, downtime was reduced, less ground bearing pressure was placed on the underground tunnels, and it avoided the time-consuming movement of multiple crawler cranes.

Now the final lift has been executed, ALE is currently dismantling the crane.
