March 10 - ALE has completed the skidding, moving and lifting of a 1,000-tonne main arch as part of the Walterdale Bridge replacement project in Edmonton, Canada.
ALE was contracted by the Acciona-Pacer joint venture (APJV) to skid the bridge arch onto barges and transport it along the North Saskatchewan river to reach the final installation position.
The arch was then positioned, before being hydraulically lifted into place. ALE is expected to complete the second and final lift in April 2016.
The USD155 million project, involves the replacement of the old Walterdale Bridge with a modern structure, comprising of two 56 m high arches.
