October 7 - One of AirBridgeCargo Airlines' Boeing 747-400 freighters has acted as an 'aircraft carrier' for four aerobatic aircraft travelling from the Netherlands to China.
The propeller aircraft, each weighing approximately 0.839 tonnes, were being delivered from Maastricht to Beijing for the 2nd China International Sport Airshow in Laiwu. On arrival in Beijing, the aerobatic planes continued their journey by road to Shandong Province in eastern China inside a special container.
Each aircraft is 6.5 m in length and has a 7.3 m wing span. The aircraft were disassembled into five sections to fit onto 12 maindeck positions inside ABC's Boeing 747 for the flight from Europe to China.
The aircraft took part in an aerial display in the Xueye Tourist Area in Laiwu City in front of over 300,000 visitors and millions of television viewers. More than 1,000 aerobatic pilots demonstrated their flying skills
and the capability of their aircraft during the four-day event.
