December 9 - Ahlers Belgium and Ahlers China worked together to move 2,100 tonnes of filtration systems from Wuhan, via Nantong to Blyth in the UK.
The items were urgently required by the receiver in the UK and Ahlers chartered a vessel sailing direct with a transit time of 40 days.
Ahlers China arranged both barge transport from the production site in Wuhan up to the port of Nantong, and port handling. Ahlers Belgium was responsible for chartering the direct sailing.
Limited space in the ship's hold presented several challenges says Ahlers, meaning that loading, dunnaging, lashing and securing of the cargo was quite time-consuming.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Ahlers network, the company's office in St Petersburg has again handled the transportation and customs clearance of machinery and equipment.
The cargoes were taken by trucks, ship and rail from Germany to Russia with the largest unit weighing 43 tonnes.
