June 29 - Antwerp-based Ahlers Forwarding has revealed a range of charters and shipments that neatly demonstrate its worldwide reach in sectors as diverse as oil and gas to the Winter Olympics 2014.
Recent and significant movements have included: the loading of two patrol boats being sent from The Netherlands to Lagos for the Nigerian port authorities and loading a 39 m Sunseeker yacht on board Chipolbrok's Orkan, sailing to Hong Kong (pictured below); three large cranes were shipped to Sochi on the Russian Black Sea coast for construction projects supporting the 2014 Winter Olympics, while two large gantry cranes were moved from Antwerp to Las Palmas, Spain.
Other projects included the securing and handling of a shipment of Kleemann crushers destined for Tula in the Russian Federation from Ireland; a Cooper 550 portable drilling rig from Jebel Ali to Port Al Zubair in Iraq; the shipment of a number of oversize cargo pieces to an oilfield in Karachan, Kazakhstan consisting of 4 m, 32 tonne spools (pictured below); and continuing shipments of electrodes for Ahlers India from Nhava Sheva, India to Antwerp, where the cargo is destuffed and kept in warehouse, before shipping to Palua, Venezuela. First leg of the transport chain is completed in containers, the second leg to Venezuela as breakbulk.
