October 6 - Alexander Global Logistics has handled the transport of a 148-tonne steam drum by barge from Berlin to Sluijskil in the Netherlands.
The drum, which had the dimensions 17.18 m x 3.54 m x 5.41 m, was transported at night.
AGL's director of projects, Jürgen Weyhausen, explained that the company organised an 800-tonne capacity lattice boom crane and a full-charter barge, as well as completing the survey, loading in Germany and unloading in the Netherlands.
"The cargo was needed extremely urgently at the Dutch job site," said Weyhausen. "The trip would normally take eight to nine days, but by putting a second barge captain on board, in order to travel 24 hours a day, AGL cut the transit time down to six days."
Alexander Global Logistics is a member of the Project Cargo Network (PCN), representing Germany, Russia and Mongolia.
