February -23- Agility Project Logistics' marine division has helped SBM move a damaged oil rig into drydock for repairs.
The Thunder Hawk Hull rig had been damaged during transport from Singapore to the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) near Galveston, Texas.
The rig was shipped to a position 150km offshore from Galveston, Texas then towed through the Sabine River to a dry dock facility at Port Arthur, Texas.
Since the rig is 77.4m wide there was approximately 30.5m of overhang on ship used fro transport, which required a complete shut down of the river for approximately 12 to 14 hours.
Agility co-ordinated between the various governmental agencies including the US Coast Guard, US Customs and Border Protection, port authorities, and other maritime interests to assure the safe arrival in Port Arthur and the re-delivery of the rig from the drydock to Corpus Christi, Texas.
