March 10 - AAL and Peter Döhle (PD) have launched a new joint semi-liner service connecting Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
HLPFI reported in May 2015 that the two carriers launched joint tramp and project cargo services, utilising a fleet of 26 multipurpose heavy lift vessels.
Marc Willim, general manager of AAL's Tramp & Projects division commented on the new service: "AAL has operated tramp and liner services side-by-side for many years, so we understand the demands of managing regular scheduled services, alongside bespoke chartering solutions.
"We operate liner services between Asia - North Pacific and Asia - Australia, and two semi-liner trades between Asia - US Gulf / US east cost and Intra-Asia. These services will soon feature regularly published schedules and departure lists, for easy customer reference."
John Jensen, general manager of chartering at Peter Döhle, said the new venture would address customer demands for a more regular and defined schedule, while continuing to provide tramp flexibility: "With our joint geographical set up we're more than ready to master all global challenges."
Namir Khanbabi, managing director of AAL's Tramp & Projects division continued: "Our relationship with Peter Döhle was a determining factor in the launch of this important new trade route having already set in place a joint global tramp cooperation."
