March 24 - AAL has added a call at Stewart World Port in British Columbia, Canada to its Pacific service.

The inaugural sailing into Stewart World Port took place in February 2016 with the 31,000 dwt multipurpose ship AAL Newcastle, which unloaded project cargo at the recently opened Canadian gateway.

AAL's Pacific service offers a monthly sailing between north Asia and the west coast of North America, deploying a fleet of three vessels, each with a combined lifting capacity of 700 tonnes.

The heavy lift shipping line explained that it chose to call at Stewart World Port due to its location in one of the most mineral-rich areas in North America, its proximity to northwest British Columbia and eastern Yukon, and its deep sea berthing facility.

HLPFI reported in September 2015 that Stewart World Port had officially opened.
