June 3 - AAL has expanded its Pacific liner service to include the Canadian Port of Prince Rupert.
The vessel AAL Brisbane made the inaugural sailing into the British Columbia port earlier in May, carrying a cargo of process units for a major new oil sands project in Alberta.
AAL's expanded Pacific service will now be making regular, scheduled calls at the port, which the heavy lift shipping operator says has emerged as an important new gateway for project cargo imports to the oil-rich mining area of Alberta and the wider Pacific Northwest.
The service offers a monthly frequency and deploys three 31,000 dwt multipurpose heavy lift vessels, each with a combined lifting capacity of 700 tonnes.
