5K Logistics delivers five power generation systems to New Mexico
Manufactured by Wartsila in Finland, each generator measured 13.35 m x 3.3 m x 4.25 m and weighed 135 tonnes. There were also 35 large breakbulk pieces (including radiators, pumps, exhaust piping), plus 45 x 40 ft containers of accessories accompanying the generators.
The shipment originated at the Port of Rauma, Finland and was offloaded in Houston, USA.
The five generators were transported by rail to a siding 5.6 km miles from the job site, where they were transferred to 12-axle Goldhofer trailers using a push up gantry system and delivered to the Lea County Electric Cooperativesite in Lovington. The accessory pieces and containers were trucked directly to the jobsite from Houston and other vendor locations.
At the jobsite, the generators were offloaded from the trailers using a jack and slide system to be set into place. This project was managed by 5K Logistics' vice president, Gus Chalos through the company's Houston office.
5K Logistics is a Global Logistics Supplier (GLS) for Wartsila.
