Scotload has supplied a 1,000-tonne capacity load monitoring shackle for load testing operations at a China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) project site.
The shackle performed load tests for a 600-tonne capacity hoisting machine used to raise and lower the umbilical hose in a floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.
The load monitoring shackle was supplied to CNOOC by Scotload’s distributor in China, Trusland Offshore Services Limited.
The Scotload shackle was selected as it was able to fulfil the 50 percent safety allowance required by the customer and had been built for stock, meaning it was available to ship to the project site in days. According to Scotload, the lead-time to build a shackle of this size is usually approximately 10-12 weeks. a
