Sarens is offloading and installation 456 battery energy storage systems (BESS) and 90 medium-voltage power station (MVPS) units for a hybrid solar farm in Kenhardt, South Africa.
The contract with Scatec was signed back in March 2023, with the project being one of the first of South Africa’s Risk Mitigation Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (RMIPPPP) in execution phase.
“We are thrilled to be at the forefront of this operation as it opens our horizons in the renewables sector,” said Tim Biesemans, Sarens’ regional director of Southern Africa. “Solar… is a sector that can bring immense changes for the best on our planet, and we are dedicated to helping it grow with whatever we can do as referenced heavy lifting and engineered transport solutions and service provider globally.”
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 and will supplement the power grid of the country with 540 MW of installed capacity.
