China-based forwarder Protranser has coordinated delivery of roll rubber conveyor belts from Taicang, China, to a mine in Australia.
It was responsible for the delivery of 30 roll rubber conveyor belts in total – a combined 1,500 cu m – with individual pieces weighing between 25-43 tonnes. The Australian mine requires 10,000 cu m worth of belt replacements every year.
Protranser’s scope of work included picking up the project cargo from the factory in China, port service, chartering a breakbulk vessel, and delivery to the jobsite in Australia – a 700 km journey from the port of Dampier, in Western Australia.
The company said that unstable shipping schedules and variable delivery times were challenges to overcome in this project. Protranser combated these potential issues by choosing a different port of discharge in order to keep on track, along with preparing enough trailers to deliver to the site.
In January 2025, Protranser delivered a railway crane from Tianjin ro-ro terminal to a jobsite in Cangzhou, Hebei province.
