Allseas’ installation vessel Pioneering Spirit has delivered the 8,500-tonne Ninian Northern platform jacket for decommissioning at Lerwick Port Authority’s Dales Voe Base in Scotland.
On arrival from the North Sea, Pioneering Spirit went directly to the Dales Voe Base – the first time it has operated at quayside in a UK port, said the port authority.
After lifting steel structures onto a barge for removal, the 382 m-long and 124 m-wide vessel manoeuvred at the base to transfer the 83 m-high jacket onto Allseas’ barge Iron Lady. The jacket was then loaded in onto a heavy-duty pad.
The jacket is being decommissioned by the Veolia/Peterson partnership.
