Mammoet has relocated several container cranes for Hutchison Ports ICAVE at the port of Veracruz, Mexico as part of the company’s expansion programme.
Mammoet transported three ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and 18 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes for the first phase of the project.
The heaviest STS unit weighed 1,365 tons (1,238.31 tonnes) and was loaded onto SPMTs, rolled onto a waiting barge and moved approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) to their new location. Eight of the RTGs were moved in the same way, the heaviest of which weighed 197 tons (178.7 tonnes).
The second phase of the project will see more STS and RTG cranes repositioned in December.
