Portugal-headquartered Laso Transportes has been engaged through January and February with the delivery of 60 wind turbine components for Gardunha II project.
The cargoes are being moved from different points of the Iberian Peninsula to the project site in Castelo Branco, Portugal. The cooperation of the Castelo Branco City Council and the Portuguese police agents involved has been imperative for the success of the operation.
Tricky access to the project site facilitated the need for transhipment areas for large cargoes to be transferred to longer trailers, while a blade lifter was used to navigate the interior of villages/towns and along the winding route of the roads.
“Transporting components of five wind towers is challenging because the components are large and heavy and requires 60 trips to be made. Cooperation between the different departments… is essential to guarantee the success of the project”, said the company. To realize this operation was required a team of approximately 60 people, including more than 20 drivers, 30 pilots and employees from its wind, cranes and heavy lift departments
