The USA’s Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport) has supported the move of several CV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft for the US Air Force Special Operations Command at its Blount Island Marine Terminal.
From Hurlburt Field, Florida, US Air Force pilots flew the Ospreys onto the port, where stevedores from SSA Atlantic towed the aircraft aboard a waiting ro-ro vessel, American Roll-on Roll-off Carrier’s (ARC) Patriot. The aircraft will support military missions overseas.
The moving of the equipment through the port was coordinated by the South Carolina-based 841st Transportation Battalion and Virginia-based 597th Transportation Brigade, which are units of the U.S. Army’s Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command.
