Höegh Autoliners’ ro-ro vessel Höegh Tracer called at the port of Newcastle, Australia, on August 14, delivering a range of heavy equipment and machinery destined for customers in New South Wales (NSW).
Höegh Tracer is a 200 m-long ro-ro vessel designed to transport passenger and commercial vehicles and large equipment. It features long ramps for efficient loading and unloading that reduces the impact on the quayside.
The shipment included a large excavator and a mechanical screener intended for mining operations.
Measuring 200 m-long, the ro-ro vessel is part of Höegh’s New Horizon fleet and features 14 decks with more than 71,000 cu m of cargo space.
In May, another Höegh Autoliner ro-ro ship, Triton Ace, called at the port to deliver mining machinery, as HLPFI reported here.
The shipments come at a time of trade diversification at the port. Craig Carmody, ceo at the Port of Newcastle, said that the port is well placed to help stimulate the local economy and is exploring new trade opportunities to help boost the post Covid-19 economic recovery.
