Greenroad International Logistics has transported a cement plant 950 km from China to Dhading in Nepal.
The heaviest unit – a cement mill – weighed 92.5 tonnes and measured 13.76 m x 4.76 m x 4.86 m.
The biggest obstacles, according to Greenroad, were the transport along the mountainous roads of Nepal and a number of weak bridges along the route.
To overcome these challenges, Greenroad executed preparatory works before the move took place. The company arranged road surveys plus a truck escort to accompany the convoy.
For the project, the company deployed hydraulic axle trailers, lowbed trailers and SPMTs to manoeuvre the out-of-gauge (OOG) units. Flatbed trailers were deployed for general cargoes.
Once in operation, the cement plant will have a capacity of 3,000 tonnes per day.
