DB Schenker, on behalf of Siemens Energy, has been carrying out logistical work supporting the construction of an 882 MW power plant in the city of Rybnik, Poland.
Set to replace four decommissioned coal units with a combined capacity of 900 MW at the existing Rybnik power plant, this new gas and steam unit will become the largest and most efficient in Poland and one of the largest in Europe.
The unit, which is owned by the Polish majority state-owned energy company Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE), will reduce dust and sulphur oxide emissions. DB Schenker’s work on the project began in July 2024 with an initial shipment from China to Poland and is expected to be wrapped up by August 2025.
