Sadleirs Global Logistics has handled the delivery of two oil and gas control rooms from Brisbane, Queensland, to Karratha in Western Australia for Chevron.
The control rooms measured 28.5 m x 7.2 m x 4.5 m and weighed 108 tons (98 tonnes) each.
The 5,800 km journey across Australia had to pass through multiple states and required extensive planning. For the move, Sadleirs had to obtain transport and transit approvals from 227 individual municipalities and arrange both private and police escorts.
The convoy had to abide by a maximum speed limit of 40 km/h, was restricted to daytime moves, and had to overcome numerous obstacles along the route.
“The two transits also encountered localised flooding, extreme heat, frost, numerous Covid-19 related tests and restrictions, and worst of all the massive Aussie bushfires,” said Sadleirs.
In cooperation with its project partners, Russells Transport, the control rooms were delivered safely and efficiently.
Sadleirs is a member of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in Australia.
